Thanks to the Russian modders at motofan.ru, we are now able to connect via telnet to the Motorola ROKR E8 phone. Here are the proper steps to do that:

1. Download R6713_G_71.02.07R cg52 Telnet Enabled Reflash and flash it to your E8 ROKR.

2. After your phone is flashed - go to Connections and switch your phone to "USB Net" connectivity mode.

3. You will need to install the latest Motorola USB drivers.

4. Now connect your ROKR to your computer with USB cable. Go to command prompt ("Start > Run > CMD" and press OK).

5. In the black command prompt window type: telnet 192.168.16.2

6. There will be a login prompt. Use username root and empty password (just Enter).

7. That's it - enjoy!

According to the Russian website this firmware will also enable FTP connection (very cool) and will allow running software (mpkg) from the SD flash card. So far so cool :)
